ITALY. Leonardo’s new Multi Aperture Infrared (MAIR) threat warning system has gone into series production, with manufacturing underway on an initial batch of dozens of units for installation on helicopters including the Italian Army’s Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), based on the AW169M.

UNITED KINGDOM. Leonardo has signed a long-term pricing agreement with Northrop Grumman Corporation to provide pointer/trackers for the U.S. Army’s Common Infrared Countermeasures (CIRCM) program as it enters full-rate production.

UNITED KINGDOM. The Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with British industry Team Tempest partners aiming to drive forward the next phase of the major national and international endeavor to develop the next generation of combat air.

EUROPE. The European Commission has selected a consortium of companies and research institutes to study the design of the future European quantum communication network, EuroQCI (quantum communication infrastructure). It will aim to enable ultra-secure communication between critical infrastructures and government institutions across the European Union.

GERMANY. HENSOLDT has won an additional order under the German Air Force’s Quadriga procurement program for 38 Eurofighter combat aircraft. In the context of the Quadriga program, HENSOLDT has been commissioned by the European EuroRADAR consortium to produce and deliver radar electronic components. 

EUROPE. a4ESSOR S.A.S (Alliance for ESSOR), a multi-national joint venture to develop European Secure Software-Defined Radio (ESSOR) technology, announced it has achieved formal acceptance for its High Data Rate (HDR) Base Waveform which has been developed under the European Secure Software defined Radio-Operational Capability 1 (ESSOR OC1) contract signed with Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d’ARmement (OCCAR).

ITALY. Leonardo has been contracted by Boeing to provide its new software-defined radio (SDR), the SWave Airborne SDR SRT-800 for NATO’s fleet of E-3A Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft. The AWACS fleet is being modernized by Boeing to maintain its operational viability through 2035 under the Final Lifetime Extension Program (FLEP).
