Raytheon Technologies and American Rheinmetall Vehicles announced that the companies are developing an infantry fighting vehicle that can conduct close-combat operations, survive modern threats like anti-tank guided missiles and cyber attacks, and use artificial intelligence (AI) to aid decision making. 

FALLS CHURCH, Va. The U.S. Army has declared the Northrop Grumman Corporation Common Infrared Countermeasure (CIRCM) system operationally suitable, effective, and ready for full-rate production following a six-month initial operational test and evaluation (IOT&E) activity.

NEW YORK, N.Y. Persistent Systems announced that its Wave Relay mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) technology supported the U.S. Air Force's demonstration of its Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concept. ACE seeks to counter the threat near-peer powers pose to American force projection by shifting from large, established air bases to smaller, rapidly deployable, temporary airstrips manned by skeleton crews.

TYSONS, Va. Omnispace, company specializing in mobile communications by building a global hybrid network, has announced the demonstration of 5G satellite capability with the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN), along with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Omnispace was selected by NSIN in 2020 to pilot its technology in connection with Verizon's new 5G "Living Lab."

HERNDON, Va. Peraton has won a U.S. Army contract for Hypersonic Test Engineering, Mission Planning and Systems (HyTEMPS), valued at up to $44 million over two years. This award builds upon Peraton's support of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC) Technical Center and its mission to develop hypersonic vehicle technologies and provide hypersonic weapon and vehicle flight testing capabilities.

GERMANY. Sensor solutions specialist HENSOLDT announced it has passed the Factory Acceptance Test of its new airborne multi-mission surveillance radar PrecISR. In an online demonstration, the PrecISR 1000 proved its capabilities to the customer, the provider of airborne special missions operations QinetiQ GmbH, Möchengladbach/Germany.

FORT WORTH, Texas. Elbit Systems announced that it has unveiled the next generation of its Advanced Multi-Sensor Payload System (AMPS NG), adding Shortwave Infrared (SWIR) technology to the existing day Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) TV sensors, and a unique highly capable dual FLIR sensor design.

SPAIN. Thales announced it has conducted different trials, which have demonstrated the integration capability of its radio communication solutions with the Army’s command and control systems for use cases of a command network, both at brigade and lower echelons levels.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Collins Aerospace, a unit of Raytheon Technologies Corp., was awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract modification by the U.S. Air Force for its newest FastJet reconnaissance pod, the MS-110 Multispectral Airborne Reconnaissance system.

MONROVIA, Calif. Parasoft, company specializing in automated software testing, announced that its DevSecOps solution for building security into critical Department of Defense (DoD) programs was selected for use by the DoD's Joint Federated Assurance Center (JFAC). JFAC is a federation of DoD organizations promoting and enabling software assurance technologies and expertise to defense acquisition programs and their supporting activities.

WHITE SALMON, Wash. Sagetech Avionics, an aerospace technology company providing situational awareness solutions for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and American Aerospace ISR (AA ISR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate Sagetech's Detect and Avoid (DAA) system into the AA ISR AiRanger unmanned aircraft.

CENTREVILLE, Va. Parsons Corporation announced that it is developing and deploying artificial intelligence (AI) across a wide array of federal solutions and critical infrastructure projects to solve challenging problems, produce actionable intelligence, and improve user experience. 

Guilty until proven innocent – that is how the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) treats the safety-certification process for military avionics systems, and the software portion of these systems is no exception. Certifying DO-178 in avionics software is a detailed process by which the safety and security of the software is determined to be acceptable to fly. The certification process itself is still a work in progress: Having already undergone revisions since its conception in the late 1980s following the emergence of supplemental software in aviation, DO-178 and other safety-certification standards for military and commercial avionics are being challenged to keep pace with digital innovation.

FAIRFAX, Va. The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Army Research Laboratory (DEVCOM ARL) announced it has awarded global consulting and digital services provider ICF a new task order valued at up to $53 million to expand the delivery of cyber research, development, and technology services. It has a term of five years, including a one-year base and four option years. 

FORT WORTH, Texas. Elbit Systems of America announced it will provide the U.S. Army with continued support and maintenance of the Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHADSS) that is used by AH-64 Apache pilots. 

SAN FRANSISCO, Calif. The Open Group, the vendor-neutral technology consortium, has announced the launch of the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Business Guide, Version 3.0.

GERMANY. HENSOLDT announced that it is strengthening its avionics business by re-naming its subsidiary EUROAVIONICS GmbH, Pforzheim, and addressing the avionics market under the unified brand name HENSOLDT Avionics. The renaming is driven by a new management team led by the Managing Directors, André Hinueber and Dieter Buchdrucker. 

POWAY, Calif. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., manufacturer of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) systems, radars, and electro-optic and related mission systems solutions, announced that its company-owned Avenger ER received an FAA-issued Experimental Certificate (EC) enabling the “Extended Range” Avenger to perform expanded operations in the U.S. National Airspace System.

BETHESDA, Md. Lockheed Martin tested its next-generation Extended-Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (ER GMLRS) munition in an 80-kilometer flight demonstration at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. Green Hills Software announced that its INTEGRITY-178 Time-Variant Unified Multi-Processing (tuMP) RTOS is being used by Collins Aerospace to meet the NSA's Raise the Bar (RTB) initiative for Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).
