IRVINE, Calif. Fairview Microwave Inc., an Infinite Electronics brand and provider of on-demand radio frequency (RF), microwave, and millimeter wave components, has released a new line of bi-phase modulators covering broad octave frequency bands from 0.5 to 40 GHz.
According to the company, these models use transistor-transistor logic logic to phase modulate data onto an RF carrier signal using two phase shift keying (2PSK). Fairview Microwave claims that useful applications could include military communications systems, microwave radio, radar, high-data-rate test & measurement, serial data transmission, and wireless base station infrastructure.
The series of zero degree to 180 degree bi-phase modulators includes nine models that offer performance that includes low insertion loss of 2.5 dB typical, fast switching speed of 40 nsec typ, low VSWR of 1.8:1 typ, and maximum peak RF input power of 0.5 watts.
All designs require dual bias voltages, and input and output RF ports are bi-directional. The compact and rugged packages are designed to utilize solder pins for TTL control, DC bias and ground, and field replaceable SMA or 2.92mm female connectors. The models meet MIL-STD-202 environmental test conditions for humidity, shock, vibration, altitude, and temperature cycle.
