CH-53K King Stallion starts transition to Naval Air Station - News

NAVAL AIR STATION PATUXENT RIVER, Md. Lockheed Martin announced that its CH-53K King Stallion cargo helicopter program has successfully completed its first extended "cross-country" flight from Sikorsky's West Palm Beach, Florida, facility to Naval Air Station Patuxent River, the first of several such flights that will occur during 2017 and 2018 as the CH-53K flight test program transitions to the flight-test facilities at Patuxent River.

BAE Systems wins $4.8 billion contract to build new Type 26 Global Combat Ships for U.K. - News

GLASGOW, Scotland. BAE Systems has been awarded a contract by the U.K. defense ministry worth 3.7 billion pounds ($4.8 billion ) to manufacture the first three ships for the Type 26 Global Combat Ship program. Steel is set to be cut on the first ship in Glasgow in the next several weeks.

Newest naval littoral combat ship to be christened LCS Billings - News

MARINETTE, Wis. The U.S. Navy will christen its newest Freedom-variant littoral combat ship (LCS), USS Billings (LCS 15), during a July 1 ceremony in Marinette, Wisconsin, the home of shipbuilder Fincantieri Marinette Marine. The future USS Billings, the name of which honors the largest city in Montana, will be the first ship bearing that name in naval service.

MANCHESTER, N.H. Verotec has been chosen by Lockheed Martin to provide custom 19-inch, 6U, 600 mm deep rack cases to house part of the intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) system in the next-generation AJAX armored fighting vehicles developed for the British army. The AJAX program is a project headed by General Dynamics UK.

L3 Technologies business unit wins U.S. Army fuze contract worth as much as $230 million - News

NEW YORK. L3 Technologies announced today that its L3 Electronic Business segment has been awarded an initial $89.2 million firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Army to supply M783 point detonating/delay (PD/DLY) mortar fuzes and M734A1 multioption fuze for mortars (MOFM). The multiyear contract has a base award and four option years, which -- if fully exercised -- could potentially exceed $230 million.

U.S. Navy awards $35.5 million target drone contract to Kratos - News

June 29, 2017
SAN DIEGO. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions' Unmanned Systems Division (USD) has been awarded an amendment to a previously awarded contract to exercise an option for Low Rate Initial Production Year 1 (LRIP 1) from the U.S. Navy for BQM-177A Subsonic Aerial Target (SSAT) drone systems. The SSAT LRIP 1 order has an initial value of $34.5 million; coincident with the LRIP 1 order, Kratos also won the contract to provide contractor logistics support (CLS), with the initial value of the CLS award at $2.53 million for fiscal 2017.

IARPA awards $12.5 million contract to improve biometrics - News

MENLO PARK, Calif. The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) Odin Program has awarded research and engineering firm SRI International a four-year, $12.5 million contract to research and develop "dynamic biometrics" able to better detect attempts to evade or deceive biometric security systems, such as fingerprint, iris, and face scanners. The ability to detect these deceptions focuses on a critical weakness in current generation biometric security systems; boosting detection would expand biometric use cases beyond low-risk applications.

ViaSat garners multiyear contract for terminals used on Apache helicopters - News

CARLSBAD, Calif. Boeing has awarded broadband services and technology company ViaSat a multiyear contract to produce the KOR-24A Link 16 terminal, a two-channel small tactical terminal (STT) used in the U.S. Army's AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopter, for U.S. Army and International Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases. The base contract -- which calls for at least 534 terminals to be produced over the next four years -- will eventually contain options.

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) TechSolutions program has sponsored the development of the Deployable Ship Integration Multitouch System (DSIMS) -- a mobile software package for use on the flight decks of ships including aircraft carriers -- that features a digital touchscreen image of a ship?s flight deck or hangar bay that can be used by ship personnel on a laptop or desktop computer.
