Air Force, long-range radar contract award hits snag with court decision - News

Last fall Raytheon won a contract to be prime contractor on the Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DELRR). The other competitors weren't happy about it and filed a protest, then Raytheon filed a suit to block the protest. Last month a judge ruled in favor of the protesters so the drama will continue.

Intel to buy FPGA maker Altera for more than $16 billion - Blog

According to a report I heard on CNBC this morning, computer chip giant Intel in Santa Clara, Calif., is looking to buy FPGA-designer Altera in San Jose, Calif., for about 16.7 billion or $54 a share. Altera Stratix FPGAs play key links military signal processing chains for applications such as radar, sonar, and electronics warfare to name a few.

Raytheon Co. and Vista Equity Partners officials have completed a joint venture transaction that creates a new company combining Websense, a Vista Equity portfolio company, and Raytheon Cyber Products, a product line of Raytheon's Intelligence, Information, and Services business. The newly-formed commercial cybersecurity company will be named on an interim basis as Raytheon|Websense. Company leaders say they expect to introduce a new brand identity once they complete their integration efforts.
