UAS sensor engineering firm, Sensintel bought by Raytheon

TUCSON, Ariz. Raytheon purchased unmanned aircraft system (UAS) solution provider Sensintel, Inc., which will become part of Raytheon Company's Missile Systems business.
While terms of the agreement were not disclosed, Raytheon officials say the transaction is not expected to materially impact their company's sales or earnings in the first quarter or full year 2015.
Sensintel, which is based in Tucson with about 50 employees, provides its expendable remote sensing and UAS engineering to the intelligence and special operations markets. The company has relationships with the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM), Office of Naval Research (ONR), and U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), for whom Sensintel integrates mission-specific sensors and sub-systems into manned and unmanned platforms. The company also offers training, technical, and operational support for the scientific and commercial sectors in addition to its strong military offerings.
In 2013, Sensintel purchased the Unmanned Aircraft Programs business unit of BAE Systems, which included unmanned aircraft such as the Coyote, Manta, and Silver Fox.
