NewsFebruary 03, 2012
MCLEAN, Va. Engineers at QinetiQ will provide the transmission for a hybrid electric drive for the U.S. Army?s Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) program?s technology development phase.
The QinetiQ E-X-Drive transmission will be delivered to the BAE Systems-Northrop Grumman team that won the $449.9 million GCV technology development phase contract.
The QinetiQ transmission is provides electrical power on on-board vehicle systems, or as export power on stationary applications.
The engine and transmission also do not have to be connected mechanically, which enables more flexibility with power source choices and their location, easing the introduction of fuel cells and advanced battery/energy storage solutions as they become available.
QinetiQ will deliver a number of transmissions during the 2-year- technology development phase.
