Test flights continue for Kratos Valkyrie UAV

SAN DIEGO, Calif. National-security technology provider Kratos Defense and Security Solutions has completed another in a series of test/demonstration flights of its XQ-58A Valkyrie unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
During the latest flight, lasting 71 minutes, the UAV -- a multimission, runway-independent unmanned craft capable of long-range flights at high-subsonic speeds and for a variety of applications -- completed its test objectives, according to Kratos information.
The XQ-58A demonstrator is a UAV developed by Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems in partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) on the Low Cost Attritable Strike Demonstrator (LCASD) Program. The joint effort falls within the AFRL’s Low Cost Attritable Aircraft Technology (LCAAT) portfolio, which aims to break the escalating cost trajectory of tactically relevant aircraft.
