Unlike standard signal line filters, FOIL? filters utilize a fiber optic isolation link (FOIL) to maintain 100dB shielding integrity. The filter converts ONLY the digital signal, so there is no passband and no transmission of unwanted signals. And unlike fiber optic media converters, FOIL? filters are housed in a single, convenient and protected steel package.
FOIL™ EMI filters utilize patent-pending technology and are the only EMI/RFI filters for high-speed digital signals that offer 100dB performance from 10kHz to 10GHz and higher. FOIL™ filters are the easiest and most reliable solution for bringing VoIP, 10/100 Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 access to all varieties of shielded and/or secure enclosures.
Until now, there were only two solutions to bring digital signals into shielded enclosures: low-performance signal line filters or fiber optic media converters. Each has its flaws.
Standard signal line filters wreak havoc on high-speed digital signals. In order to maintain signal integrity, the filter must use an enormous passband and low insertion loss making them practically useless for secure applications.
The alternative was fiber optic media converters, but they require bulky waveguide penetrations, fragile fiber optic jumpers, and two converter boxes and adaptors that all take up precious real estate and add to "cable clutter."
Now there is a third choice: FOIL™ EMI filters.
