BETHPAGE, N.Y. U.S. Navy officials ordered two more Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) mission packages from Northrop Grumman Corp. -- one for mine countermeasures and one for surface warfare .

The mission modules' capabilities directly support the three LCS primary missions – mine countermeasures, surface warfare, and antisubmarine warfare. Mission modules enable efficient modular mission package embarkation, mission package operations at-sea, and debarkation/logistics support.

To date Northrop Grumman has provided three mine countermeasures and three surface warfare mission modules for the LCS program. A fourth mine countermeasures mission module is in production and scheduled to be delivered later this year. The fourth and fifth surface warfare mission modules, which are also in production, are scheduled for delivery this year as well. Final integration work and delivery will be completed at the Mission Package Support Facility at Naval Base Ventura County, Port Hueneme, Calif.
