SECURITY IN MISSION-CRITICAL DEFENSE SYSTEMS
Sponsored StoryApril 20, 2021
By Rich Kellen, Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, Wind River
By 2030 machines will connect, sense, predict, and comprise a significant portion of the U.S. economy by then ($7T) for industries as diverse as industrial manufacturing and aerospace and defense.
This puts new and undiscovered challenges in front of us. With tens of billions of devices processing vast arrays of data across the intelligent edge — in motion in near-latency-free time — this data will be both immediately valuable and potentially vulnerable especially in military supply chain. Threats will need to be handled within a more dynamic process.
Security is foremost among those challenges. Adversarial threats are only getting more complex, so, designing security protocols to thwart them is equally complex. More than half of technology leaders see multiple security concerns directly connected to digital transformation initiatives, including increased cybersecurity risks (53%), cybercriminal sophistication (56%), and increased threat surface (53%). Such risks are creating vulnerabilities exist throughout the defense supply chain from the component manufacturer to the system designer to the deployed warfighter network. These threats are compounded by another concern shared by 40% of CISOs, CTOs, and CIOs: namely, the problems caused by rigid technology infrastructure — the sort of infra- structure tightly associated with embedded systems.
Wind River®, the leader in mission-critical intelligent systems, is bringing together some of the foremost thinkers in cloud, cybersecure data, and the future of security. Listen as they plot a pathway to the future in mission-critical intelligent systems in defense, aerospace, and industrial applications.
Listen to four globally respected security, governance, and cyber experts as they plot a pathway to a successful future where safe, secure, and cyber protected are common design elements in successful intelligent systems in defense and aerospace systems and networks .
