MIDDLETON, WI. Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has released a 6U OpenVPX processor module based on Freescale QorIQ T4240/T4160 Systems on Chip (SoCs), the XCalibur1840. The XCalibur1840’s Power Architecture e6500-based processors include 1.8 GHz dual-threaded cores and the AltiVec Single-Instruction, Multiple-Data (SIMD) engine for high-performance control and data plane processing tasks.
