MELBOURNE, Fla. U.S. Army officials placed an order for production, spare parts, depot, and installation of satellite communications terminals from Harris Corp. under the Modernization of Enterprise Terminals (MET) program. The contract is worth an estimated $41 million.
The fixed-site terminals and hardened transportable terminals provide dual X and Ka-band access to the Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) network as well as legacy satellite constellations.
Harris has been under contract under the MET program since 2009. The latest orders bring the contract total to an estimated $516 million.
MET’s multiband terminals will provide communications and situational awareness capabilities for military personnel deployed across the world, says Ed Zoiss, president, Harris Electronic Systems.
