U.S. Army Security Force Assistance Brigades to get new radio equipment

ROCHESTER, N.Y. The U.S. Army Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFABs) has chosen equipment from Harris Corporation to supply the SFABs with combat-proven communication systems.
Under the recent agreement, Harris will provide a full battlefield solution, including its Falcon III AN/PRC-152A wideband networking handheld radios and AN/PRC-117G multiband networking manpack radios, together with the Harris AN/PRC-160 high frequency manpack radios. In order to use the radios to transmit vital information across long distances and over elevated terrain, including mountains and other natural or manmade obstructions, the SFABs will use the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) and the Adaptive Networking Wideband Waveform (ANW2), both of which are intended to provide robust battlespace communications.
The SFAB -- a unit solely dedicated to advising and assisting partner nations in developing their security force capability from the tactical to ministerial level -- trains and organizes coalition forces while equipping them with proven and reliable equipment needed to complete their missions. Such brigades aim to build the capability of coalition partners, thereby preserving U.S. Army combat forces for other pressing missions if required.
