TAMPA, Fla. Core Avionics & Industrial (CoreAVI) has launched what it calls its "Safe AI and Computer Vision solution" that uses its newest product, VkCoreVX SC, a safety-critical implementation of the Khronos Group's OpenVX1.3 API.
According to information from the company, CoreAVI’s safe AI [artificial intelligence] and computer vision solution lays down a flexible framework for computer vision, signal processing, and neural network inferencing while meeting the most stringent levels of safety certification.
Company officials say that the new package means that visualizing compute workloads -- an attribute needed for augmented vision systems, autonomous systems, or degraded visual environments -- is now able to be accomplished from within a safety-critical API with a deterministic runtime-state-management. They also assert that the product is designed from the very beginning for real-time and safety certification and contains no open source components or third-party software. The Safe AI and Computer Vision Solution is available with CertCore 26262 including ISO 26262 Accredited Safety Assessment Certificate ASIL D and CertCore 178 (DO-178C / ED12C Avionics) DAL A safety-certification package.
Damian Fozard, CoreAVI CEO, said of the product launch: “The future of many industries, including aerospace and defense, automotive, and industrial IoT depend on the availability of advanced algorithms to enable neural networks. We are happy to provide our customers with a true safety-critical software stack to facilitate powerful AI and computer-vision capabilities on their modern GPUs.”
