PARIS, France. Exail's new transoceanic Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV), the DriX O-16, successfully completed its initial sea trials in a demonstration shortly after it was launched in late May, the company announced.
Introduced earlier at Oceanology International in London, the DriX O-16 is designed for long-duration tasks, capable of operating autonomously for up to 30 days over 3,500 nautical miles, the company says, adding that its large size supports a diverse array of payloads and subsea assets for tasks ranging from scientific to hydrographic surveys.
During its demonstration on June 5th, the DriX O-16 showcased several capabilities, including the deployment of various robotic systems such as Remotely Operated Towed Vehicles (ROTVs), inspection-class Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), the statement reads. The company says the vessel is ideal for full ocean depth surveys and inspecting subsea infrastructure.
