NAVAIR AIR SYSTEMS COMMAND, Patuxent River, Md. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing for the U.S. Navy's MQ-4C Triton is underway in Patuxent River.
The Triton entered an anechoic chamber on August 12 and EMC testing is expected to continue for a total of eight weeks to verify that the aircraft's subsystems can operate without interfering with each other. This testing would mark the first time that an unmanned aircraft was controlled from an external ground station inside the chamber, officials say.
