Military aircraft engine contract nets $2.2 billion modification for Pratt & Whitney

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. Pratt & Whitney (a United Technologies company) won a $2.2 billion contract modification to manufacture F-35 aircraft propulsion systems for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.
The Air Force will receive 112 F135-PW-100 engines, while the Navy will receive 25 F135-PW-100 engines through the contract; the Marine Corps will obtain 46 units of the PW-600 variant, according to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Pratt & Whitney will also use some of the funds to procure long lead components and associated parts needed to produce 129 PW-100s for non-DoD participants and another 19 PW-600s for foreign military sales customers.
Work will occur at various locations in Connecticut, Indiana, and the U.K .through February 2023.
