USAF signs $109 million contract for unmanned aerial target drone system

SAN DIEGO. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. has signed a one-year sole-source, single- award, firm-fixed-price contract worth $109 million to supply the U.S. Air Force with the Kratos BQM-167A high-performance, jet-powered unmanned aerial target drone system.
Under the terms of the contract -- which includes two one-year options for additional production lots -- Kratos will supply the U.S. Air Force with the BQM-167A, which is used to test and evaluate air-to-air and surface-to-air weapons systems. The main role of the BQM-167A is to provide Air Force aviators with extremely realistic and comprehensive end-to-end weapons-release evaluation and training.
Work is intended to be performed at a Kratos manufacturing facility.
