U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy complete testing of Air-to-Air Missile

TUCSON, Ariz. U.S. Air Force completes operational testing for the Advance Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM), the AIM-120D. Following suit, the U.S. Navy finished its initial operational capability (IOC) on the missile.
Raytheon’s AMRAAM variant, the AIM-120D missile has increased range, GPS-aided navigation, two-way data link, and improved weapon effectiveness.
The Air Force testing of the AIM-120D missile verified that it is ready for deployment as the AIM-120D was subjected to several combat scenarios.
For IOC the Navy tested the AIM-120D on the F/A-18 Hornet and the Super Hornet Aircraft. The Navy plans to deploy with the AIM-120D missile later this year.
