UAS maker Aerovironment acquires ground-robot company Telerob

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. Unmanned aircraft system (UAS) maker AeroVironment has agreed to acquire Telerob (Ostfildern, Germany), a maker of ground robotic solutions or unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), for approximately $45.4 million (37.5 million euros) in cash and a payoff of about $9.4 million (7.8 million euros) of Telerob’s debt at closing.
According to news of the acquisition from AeroVironment, Telerob's robotic ground solutions include the telemax and tEODor EVO family of UGVs; fully-equipped transport vehicles; plus training, repair, and support services. The ruggedized Telerob products enable users to perform a variety of dangerous missions, including explosive ordinance disposal; hazardous materials handling; and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threat assessment. Telerob's defense, homeland security, and emergency response customers span 45 countries.

Upon closing -- expected by the spring of 2021 -- Telerob will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of AeroVironment.
