CHELMSFORD, Mass. The German government received delivery of 44 FirstLook robots from representatives at Endeavor Robotics. The contract award comes after field tests comparing the robots performance capabilities against the German government?s stated requirements.
FirstLook robots weigh five pounds and are designed to be ‘throwable.’ The robots can be dropped 16-feet onto concrete without sustaining damage and they can climb up to seven inches as well as can automatically ‘self-right’ when flipped over. The recordable day/night cameras and two-way audio provide the user with immediate awareness of their surroundings.
The remote controlled robot acts as ‘eyes and ears’ allowing the human operator to increase their stand-off distance from potential threats. This recent deal marks the Chelmsford-based company’s second product to see fielding with the German government.
