Techaya Ethernet switch on board chosen for UUV program

LOS ANGELES. MilSource recently announced that the Techaya MILTECH 309 Ethernet Switch on Board (ESoB) was chosen by a leading underwater, remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) manufacturer to provide Ethernet switching between on-board imaging sonar, positioning software and hardware, and other sensors.
MilSource is the U.S. distributor for Techaya, an Israeli designer, developer, and manufacturer of rugged MIL-STD IP-based communications solutions for ground, air, and naval applications.
The MILTECH 309 -- a rugged unmanaged switch that is smaller than a credit card -- was chosen to be part of the unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) program, say MilSource officials, due to its reduced size, weight, and power; low thermal profile; and very high reliability. According to Techaya documents, the 309 ESoB consumes only 2 watts of power and uses 5 VDC, which can be hooked up through a USB connection.
