ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The Silent Falcon small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) from Silent Falcon UAS Technologies has been added to Transport Canada?s list of ?Compliant Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)?, a distinction allowing Silent Falcon to issue Statements of Conformity to its Canadian customers seeking to become what Canada calls Compliant UAV Operators.
The Silent Falcon is now one of a limited number of fixed-wing UASs meeting the requirements for this operational status. Transport Canada is the government agency responsible for promulgating, implementing, and promoting safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally responsible transportation.
The Silent Falcon UAS (patent pending) is a solar electric, carbon fiber, modular sUAS designed for a variety of military, commercial, public safety, and security applications. The craft's solar electric propulsion systems allow it to stay in the air for as much as five hours, depending on flying conditions. Moreover, say company officials, once the Silent Falcon reaches 100 meters, it’s effectively undetectable.
The large, open payload bay of the Silent Falcon sUAS was designed with an open interface and open architecture to accommodate a wide range of sensors, cameras, and payloads.
