Persistent Surveillance software package to be built by Raytheon for NAVAIR

DULLES, VA. Officials at the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) selected Raytheon to produce an integrated multi-INT system for safeguarding forward deployed forces. The Persistent Surveillance System Cross Domain Solution (PSS CDS) provides warfighters with an advantage by enabling a complete picture of impending threats, from classified and unclassified sources.
The PSS CDS is a software package small enough to mount onboard an aircraft. It transfers sensor data, high-definition surveillance video, traditional and non-traditional ISR imagery, and situational awareness data, for a complete picture of impending local threats, including an improvised explosive device (IED) or a group of insurgents. The system also protects U.S. forces by gathering intelligence from hundreds of miles away by using sensors on aerostats, towers, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
It provides protection to warfighters in hostile, remote environments by giving them real-time access to secure, multi-domain intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) data, says Mark Kipphut, Tactical Intelligence Systems director at Raytheon's Intelligence, Information and Services business. It has a game-changing ability to quickly share data between classified and unclassified environments, he adds.
