Leidos wins contract to support Navy, Marine acoustic programs

RESTON, Va. Technology services company Leidos has won a contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) to provide operational support to NSWCCD acoustic trials and research activities for the Navy's Southeast Alaska Acoustic Measurement Facility (SEAFAC).
Under the terms of the contract, Leidos will continue to provide logistics, operations, and maintenance services to support naval and marine signature-silencing programs. Leidos's operational support will include vessel transport services, infrastructure inspection and maintenance, waste management service, environmental compliance support, material/weight handling equipment support, logistics, and maintenance of building mechanical systems throughout the SEAFAC site. The single-award cost-plus fixed-fee contract has a six-month base performance period and one three-month option; the contract is valued at approximately $12 million if the option is exercised. Work will be performed in Ketchikan, Alaska; Poulsbo, Washington; and Long Beach, Mississippi.
NSWCCD provides support for technical products related to surface and undersea platforms, including maritime science and technology. SEAFAC -- the Navy's primary acoustic-engineering measurement facility in the Pacific region -- enables the Navy to perform evaluations on vessels and unmanned vehicles to determine the sources of radiated acoustic noise, assess any vulnerabilities, and develop noise-dampening measures.
