Northwest UAV introduces Small UAV Propulsion Module Unit

WASHINGTON. Northwest UAV (NWUAV) has introduced the COTS 44cc Heavy Fuel Propulsion Module Unit (PMU) at the 2013 Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) conference in Washington DC. The fuel-injected PMU is equipped with a 250 W generator and 28 V generator control unit, with all primary components managed under AS-9100 certification.
The COTS 44cc Heavy Fuel PMU is designed for use in Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (SUAVs), and its Engine Control Unit (ECU) data acquisition system communicates via CAN Bus. The PMU also includes a vibration isolation mount and ultra-quiet exhaust system that are expected to meet MIL-STD-1474 Level II non-detectability requirements. Cold start provisions are also included.
“The NW-44 EFI/HFE was designed to be a FAA Certified engine system for UAV’s less than 55lbs,” says Chris Harris, President and Owner of NWUAV. “The “Made in the USA” engine core and subsystem components alleviate ITAR and end-of-life concerns as well as the pending FAA Certification requirements.”
