U.S. Navy EW systems on E-2D Hawkeye aircraft to get $50.9 million in additional support

OWEGO, N.Y. Lockheed Martin has won a second multiyear contract to produce additional AN/ALQ-217 electronic support measure (ESM) or electronic warfare (EW) systems for the U.S. Navy?s E-2D aircraft program.
The terms of the five-year, $50.9 million contract includes the remainder of the 75 E-2D aircraft the U.S. Navy is expected to purchase as part of its current program of record.
The AN/ALQ-217 ESM system -- currently installed on U.S. Navy and international E-2C and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft -- provides a range of ESM operational capabilities, including detection, interception, and geolocation of RF signals; identification of weapons systems including the type, function, and mode of intercepted emitters; and enablement of enhanced situational awareness.
