System synchronization and distribution devices for phased array radar applications released by Pentek

NUREMBERG, GERMANY. Engineers at Pentek in Upper Saddle River, N.J. announced two new high-speed system synchronization and distribution devices for phased array radar, direction finding, and beamforming antenna applications at Embedded World in Nuremberg, Germany. The Pentek Model 7192 PMC/XMC module and the Model 9192 rack-mount unit, respectively, will work with multiple Pentek Virtex-6-based Cobalt and Pentek Virtex-7-based Onyx modules at clock rates as fast as 1.8 GHz and sample rates up to 3.6 GHz.

Pentek’s CML (Current Mode Logic) signaling on their micro HDMI connectors enable users to pre-configure and validate FPGA system architectures, says Rodger Hosking, vice president of Pentek.

The Model 7192 is able to synchronize as many as four Cobalt modules, each having a common clock to go with timing signals that can be used for triggering, synchronizing, and gating functions. The Model 9192 comes in a 19-inch 1U rack-mount unit that supports as many as twelve modules.

The modules are available in PMC/XMC, PCI, VPX, CompactPCI and rugged form factors. The products enable programming of operation parameters including, VCXO frequency, delays, and clock dividers that enable users to make timing adjustments on the gate and sync signals prior to sending them to buffers for output through the uSync connectors.

The Model 7192 is priced at $2,995 to start. The Model 9192’s starting price is $5,995. Delivery is 8 weeks ARO. For more information, visit www.pentek.com.
