QML Class V and Q Qualifications achieved by Microsemi RTAX-DSP FPGAs

ALISO VIEJO, CA. The Microsemi RTAX-DSP Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) have achieved Class V and Class Q Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) qualification. After 2,000 hours of life testing on each wafer lot and destructive physical analysis on assembly lots, achieving Class V and Class Q QML qualification signifies that the high-reliability FPGAs have achieved the highest level of qualification for space Integrated Circuits (ICs).

Class V and Q QML certifications eliminates the need for customers to conduct assembly/wafer lot testing on the RTAX-DSP FPGAs, which incorporate complicated DSP functions into a single device for enhanced efficiency when running DSP algorithms. The FPGAs’ include DSP multiply-accumulate mathblocks protected against radiation-induced Single Event Effects (SEEs) in space that are capable of execution at up to 125 Megahertz (MHz) at military voltage and temperature ranges.

Ken O’Neill, Director of Marketing for Space FPGAs at Microsemi commented on the qualification achievement, stating “This qualification demonstrates Microsemi's continuing commitment to the space community and our intent to achieve growing adoption of the RTAX-DSP FPGA device family.” He continued, “We will continue to secure industry certifications to provide an added level of assurance that Microsemi products are of the highest quality and reliability."

Built on the same process and technology as the RTAX-S/SL product family, the RTAX-DSP FPGAs provide low risk and increased complexity versus Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). The RTAX-DSP FPGAs are available now, and offer customers the ability to source FPGAs by referencing the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA’s) Standard Military Drawing (SMD) part numbers.
