General Dynamics to continue developing Virginia Payload Modules for submarinesNews

GROTON, Conn. U.S. Navy officials modified an existing contract with General Dynamics Electric Boat - a subsidiary of General Dynamics - to continue to develop the Virginia Payload Module (VPM). The contract's estimated value is $116 million.
Company officials say the VPM will be inserted Virginia-class submarines and will boost strike capacity by 230 percent. It is comprised of four large-diameter payload tubes in a new hull section.
