Fourth gen defense-grade FPGA and SoC secure architecture released by Xilinx

Xilinx has announced the fourth-generation secure architecture for All Programmable Zynq-7000 SoCs and defense-grade 7 series FPGAs. Outfitted with Anti-Tamper IP core support and Information Assurance, the off-the-shelf 28 nm process technology devices are reprogrammable and offer low-cost defense-grade solutions for developers of secure Defense and Aerospace systems.

Fully pin compatible with equivalent commercial-grade products for low-cost prototyping, the DoD 5000 series-compliant Anti-Tamper Security Monitor IP core (SEMCON) architecture with Information Assurance removes single points of failure. Contined in a fully-leaded, rugged package for operation in harsh environments and extended temperatures (up to -55ºC to +125ºC), the defense-grade 7 series (Virtex, Kintex, and Artix) FPGAs and Zynq 7000 SoCs also provide full mask set control and additional anti-counterfeiting features.

The high reliability and inherent reprogrammability of the FPGAs and SoCs are derived from Xilinx’s ‘fail safe heritage,’ and afford developers high levels of integration and reduced time to deployment. Secure architecture solutions are ideal for engineers designing SWaP-C constrained battery-powered systems that demand high levels of security.

Optimized for low power and high performance, the secure architecture devices are suited for a number of secure Defense applications, including missiles and munitions systems, avionics, milcomms, Electronic Warfare (EW), and Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR). Production on secure architecture Zynq 7000 SoCs and 7 series FPGAs begins in 2013.
