MOORESTOWN, NJ. Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has awarded an additional $69 million contract to Lockheed Martin to support the U.S. Coast Guard to address at-sea threats and enforce maritime authority.
Lockheed Martin will provide the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) system for the U.S. Coast Guard’s seventh National Security Cutter (NSC), a multi-mission cutter that has capabilities to support the Coast Guard’s environmental protection, homeland security, law enforcement, marine safety, and national defense missions.
Lockheed Martin has provided the C4ISR system to all prior six NSCs. The C4ISR system offers commonality and interoperability and real-time Situational Awareness (SA). It allows the crew to view vessels in distress or targets of interest, collaborate with other Coast Guard assets, and act on the most up-to-date information available.
"The NSC's C4ISR system is critical to ensuring the USCG can support the nation's maritime strategy," says Joe Buss, Program Director of Lockheed Martin's Coast Guard and Mission Control Systems. "Our brave men and women of the Coast Guard rely on the accuracy and timeliness of the data our system provides to achieve their many missions and maritime operations."
