RADA radar included in bid for U.S. Army equipment package for Stryker tank

SILVER SPRING, Md. RADA Electronic Industries announced that its Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (MHR) will be integrated into the Leonardo DRS mission equipment package (MEP) solution for the U.S. Army?s Initial Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense (IM-SHORAD) capability.
The MHR radar, when integrated on the Stryker A1 armored vehicle platform, meets the U.S. Army’s requirements for onboard sensors and enables 360-degree aerial surveillance to detect and track unmanned airborne systems (UASs) and threats from rotary-and fixed-wing aircraft at desired ranges.
According to RADA officials, each IM-SHORAD MEP includes four MHR radars to enable persistent surveillance, execute at the short halt, and operate while in motion.
DRS is currently negotiating with the U.S. Army for the prototype contract, which is expected to be awarded in August 2018. The Army's accelerated IM-SHORAD prototype effort requires systems to be delivered in early 2019; eventually, nine prototype systems will be the basis for a future production decision of more than 140 systems, beginning in 2020.
