LAS VEGAS - The U.S. Marine Corps has placed an urgent $4.3 million order with QinitiQ North America for additional Dragon Runner 10 (DR-10) robots. The latest order for the ten-pound, throwable robots will provide near-term Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance support to dismounted Marines in Afghanistan.
Tactical, rugged DR-10 robots are equipped with day and night sensors can be remotely driven, as opposed to thrown, for instant visual reports that improve strategy and safety. Hundreds of the reconnaissance robots, which are small enough to fit into a rucksack, are presently deployed in theatre and are playing critical mission support roles.
Previously commissioned by both the U.S. Marine Corp and U.S. Army, this is QinitiQ’s third order for the DR-10 platform.
