Littoral combat ship (LCS) mine countermeasure mission package integrated by Northrop Grumman

BETHPAGE, N.Y. Northrop Grumman Corp. won a Navy contract worth $28 million for engineering and production planning services for surface warfare and mine countermeasures mission module components that will be deployed from, and be integrated with, the littoral combat ship (LCS).
Each mission package consists of a specific set of subsystems such as data processing equipment, vehicles and sensors, etc. These mission packages integrate specialized unmanned and manned systems that need to operate in a combination of air, surface, and subsurface domains. The capabilities contained in each package are focused on mine countermeasures, littoral surface warfare operations, or anti-submarine warfare.
Northrop Grumman engineers also work to make sure that the components are integrated seamlessly with other LCS systems, as well as the Navy networks in which the LCS functions. So far, the company has delivered two surface warfare mission modules and is almost finished delivering its first mine countermeasures mission module for LCS. The second of these modules also is in production.
