PARIS. At the 2015 Paris Air show, Thales and Textron AirLand announced the integration of Thales’ I-Master radar into the Textron AirLand’s Scorpion Jet. The addition of the I-Master radar compliments the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) sensor suite that includes an EO/IR capability.
The I-Master radar is a multi-mode radar and combined with an EO/IR camera adds target tracking and long range, wide area surveillance capability. These two payloads can be simultaneously operated.
Engineers have designed the tactical I-Master radar to be compact and lightweight. It provides high fidelity imagery for locating and classifying static and dynamic targets over land and sea. The I-Master radar provides Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) performance, and Maritime Moving Target Indication (MMTI).
Textron AirLand’s Scorpion was initially introduced in 2013 and to date has completed more than 400 hours of flight-testing. The aircraft features include twin-engine power, large internal payload capacity, high-definition cameras, and wing mounted weapons stations.
