C4ISR contract for Navy ships potentially worth $2.45 billion awarded to six firms

WASHINGTON. Six companies have been included in a contract to provide installation services for all afloat command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) and supporting systems for the U.S. Navy by way of Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR). The contract has a base period of five years and a potential value of $2.45 billion.
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced that Huntington Ingalls Industries (Virginia Beach, Virginia), General Dynamics Information Technology (Fairfax, Virginia), M.C. Dean Inc. (Tysons, Virginia), Prism Maritime (Chesapeake, Virginia), Serco Inc. (Herndon, Virginia), and VT Milcom (Virginia Beach, Virginia) will work on the contract, which includes decommissioning and modernization of existing platforms, design and installation of integrated C4ISR systems, program and project management, engineering design, industrial work, troubleshooting, operational verification, end-user training, and other installation services and material necessary to accomplish NAVWAR C4ISR maintenance, modernization, and new system installation.
The DoD expects work to be completed by July 2024; if additional options are exercised, ordering could continue until July 2029.
