Additional electronic warfare won by Lockheed Martin under Navy SEWIP

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Lockheed Martin won a $154 million U.S. Navy contract to upgrade the fleet’s electronic warfare defenses against anti-ship missiles and other evolving threats under Block 2 of the Navy’s Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP).
Under this low-rate initial production (LRIP) contract, Lockheed Martin engineers will deliver additional systems to upgrade the AN/SLQ-32 systems on U.S. aircraft cruisers, carriers, destroyers and other warships with necessary capabilities to see if the electronic sensors of potential enemies are tracking the ship.
Block 2 is the latest improvement “block” the Navy is going after for its shipboard electronic warfare system, which will incrementally add new defensive technologies and functional capabilities. In 2013 and 2014, Lockheed Martin won 24 systems contracts as part of LRIP, the first 10 of which have been delivered to the Navy on schedule, company officials say.
Work on the SEWIP program will be happen at the company’s Syracuse, New York, facility.
