F-15 aircraft will receive integrated all-digital EPAWSS EW suite

ST. LOUIS. U.S. Air Force officials selected Boeing as the prime contractor to upgrade existing F-15 aircrafts with the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) and in a subcontract BAE Systems will develop and manufacture EPAWSS for Boeing. The initial prime contract’s estimated value is $4 billion.
According to Boeing officials, more than 400 F-15Es and F-15Cs aircrafts will receive the electronic warfare suite and will replace the Tactical Electronic Warfare System (TEWS).
EPAWSS is an integrated all-digital system and requires a smaller footprint than TEWS that has been in use since the 1980s, BAE Systems officials say. The system will improve aircraft protection with electronic countermeasures, radar warning, and increased chaff and flare capability.
“By upgrading to an enhanced all-digital system, the Air Force, in conjunction with the platform prime, Boeing, will provide next-generation electronic warfare capability to F-15C and F-15E aircraft to help keep the platform capable and mission-ready against current and future threats,” says Brian Walters, vice president and general manager of Electronic Combat Solutions at BAE Systems.
F-15 fighter aircrafts are scheduled to be in service through 2040.
