RESTON, Va. Science and technology engineering firm Leidos has won a prime contract potentially worth $210 million from the U.S. Army Contracting Command ? Orlando to develop and provide simulated training environments for troops before they deploy to a battlefield environment.
The Army will use the Leidos Synthetic Environment Core (SE Core), which consist of databases enabling high-resolution, realistic training environments with real-world 3D and 2D geographic terrain.
According to Leidos documents, SE Core gives the warfighter a complete picture of the theater -- such as maps, roads, bridges, moving vehicles and buildings --which gives the user a sense of the battlespace before entering the theater of combat operations.
The Army's single-award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, has a one-year base period of performance with four one-year options. Work will be done at the Leidos facility in Orlando under the direction of the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training & Instrumentation.
