NASA's worldwide hackathon challenge starts in April

WASHINGTON. The International Space Apps Challenge will take place April 22 ? 24. NASA officials announced that the hackathon world event will occur in Pasadena, California with local events taking place simultaneously in 193 locations across 72 countries.
On April 22 officials will live stream from the main stage this year’s challenge: Data Bootcamp. It is open to the public and it will also give the opportunity to participants to learn computer coding and data skills.
During April 23 – 24, participants will develop mobile applications, software, hardware, data visualizations, and platform solutions that can ultimately contribute to space exploration missions as well as improve life on Earth.
“We’re reaching out to women’s organizations influential in the data and maker communities to participate, and we encourage women-led teams in the hackathon,” says Deborah Diaz, chief technology officer for information technology.
NASA offers 26 challenges in six mission-related categories: Aeronautics, Earth, International Space Station, Journey to Mars, Solar System and Beyond, and Space Technology.
