AI/ML-based attack signal intelligence at the tactical edge - Story
September 07, 2023Advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) are enabling adversaries to build new attacks faster and evade signature-based threat detection with ease. The cutting edge of adversarial cybersecurity is becoming more sophisticated, using new technologies to rapidly develop new attacks. Defensive cybersecurity efforts must keep pace with bad actors by using new tools that combine attack signal intelligence with pattern-matching capabilities to identify polymorphic threats, or cyberthreats that employ evasive techniques to evade detection from traditional security solutions.
The evolution of real-time data-sharing in naval warfare - Story
September 06, 2023Naval warfare demands seamless, real-time data sharing across multiple platforms, from aircraft to surface ships to submarines. As conflicts become increasingly complex and fast-paced, the key to winning lies in the ability to communicate critical data in real time.
SOSA aligned 6U processing engines debuted by Curtiss-Wright - News
August 30, 2023ASHBURN, Va. Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions introduced the CHAMP-XD4 (VPX6-485) and the CHAMP-FX7 engines, among the initial members of the company's new Fabric100 class of SOSA aligned system elements, for use in compute-intensive defense, aerospace, and industrial applications.
A tour of VITA AFT cooling standards in 2023 - Story
August 03, 2023For critical and intelligent deployed embedded modules, air-flow-through (AFT) cooling describes an approach that brings the coolant much closer to heat-generating electronics than standard conduction-cooled approaches. As a result, compared to conduction cooling, AFT increases the amount of power that can be cooled and decreases device temperatures.
Tactical decision-making demands increasing speeds and volume of data processing - Story
August 03, 2023For defense applications, responsiveness, accuracy, and precision have never been more critical to mission success. Expanding the connectivity bandwidth within and between systems enables faster time-to-solution and greater mission capability through higher data resolution and fidelity, all of these with reduced latency.
GUEST BLOG: From Evangelism to Mandate: The Rise of MOSA - Blog
July 26, 2023For many COTS vendors and VITA members, the Tri-Services Memo issued in January 2019 by the secretaries of the Army, Navy and Air Force was the highest validation of several decades of their combined efforts. The memorandum clearly stated that, going forward, modular open systems approach (MOSA) supporting standards “should be included in all requirements, programming and development activities for future weapon system modifications and new start development programs to the maximum extent possible.” Examples of MOSA standards include the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) and CMOSS, both of which rely on OpenVPX hardware as their foundation.
SOSA aligned 3U, 6U OpenVPX module family announced by Curtiss-Wright - News
June 26, 2023ASHBURN, Va. Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions launched a new Fabric100 suite of 3U and 6U OpenVPX modules and systems intended to enable 100 Gbit Ethernet and high-performance PCIe Gen4 interconnect speeds to rugged deployable computing architectures.
