ARLINGTON, VA. A new software-defined radio (SDR ? the Picoflexor ? was announced by officials at DRS Signal Solutions, a business unit of DRS Technologies. It uses digital signal processing (DSP) technology such as Xilinx Zynq-7000 EPP devices and iVeia?s Atlas small form factor, low-power processing modules
The Picoflexor’s – the next version of DRS’s Picocepter -- supports enhanced development tools and options for embedded GNU Radio and SCA based frameworks that provide rapid inclusion of existing open source and industry developed waveforms.
Because it is a dual ARM Cortex-A9 MPcore processor system that is tightly integrated with programmable logic and high-speed I/O resources, the Zynq-7000 EPP provides ideal processing platforms for SDR applications,” says Lawrence Getman, Xilinx vice president of Processing Platforms at Xilinx.
