MELBOURNE, FL/ROCHESTER, NY — Harris Corporation’s Falcon III AN/PRC-117G manpack radio has received Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) certification. The first Non-Developmental Item (NDI) to receive JTRS certification on the SRW waveform, the multiband AN/PRC-117G operating SRW v1.01.1 has met the open standards, interoperability, and security requirements of tactical DoD networks. Proven compliant with Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO) JTRS standards, the Harris wideband tactical radio system ensures the security risk reduction and interoperability of JTRS waveforms on Software Defined Radios (SDRs).
To obtain certification, the AN/PRC-117G demonstrated compliance with Joint Interoperability Test Center interoperability requirements, National Security Agency information security benchmarks, National Telecommunications and Information Administration spectrum compliance, Software Communications Architectures approval, and programmable cryptography and waveform conformance. The radios provide continuous 30 MHz to 2 GHz frequency band coverage and also ensure future software upgradability.
Using a wideband architecture, the AN/PRC-117G improves situational awareness on the battlefield and connects warfighters to the tactical Internet from the edge of the network, which allows for secure network connectivity, simultaneous voice and data feeds, video streaming, and collaborative chat, among other applications.
The Falcon III AN/PRC-117G manpack radio is the most widely deployed wideband tactical networking radio, with more than 22,000 units deployed in all U.S. military branches and allied nations since 2009.
