GPS receiver from Rockwell Collins to be used in Curtiss-Wright Controls Digital Beachhead solution

ASHBURN, VA. Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions (CWCDS) selected the SAASM based MPE-S GPS receiver module from Rockwell Collins for the U.S. Army standard embedded GPS receiver for use in rugged electronics subsystems that are compliant with the Army’s Vehicular Integration for C4ISR/EW Interoperability (VICTORY) initiative for interoperable digital network services.
CWCDS engineers will integrate the GPS into their Digital Beachhead rugged COTS system. The MPE-S is used in the Army’s Ground-Based GPS Receiver Application Module (GB-GRAM) program.
Digital Beachhead adds a rugged VICTORY-compliant networking backbone to new and legacy military ground vehicles. The GPS addition enables these military vehicles to comply with the Army’s embedded GPS policy established Feb 20, 2009 and further reduces size, weight and power (SWaP) requirements.
The Rockwell Collins GPS receiver will provide position, time, speed, and other GPS data as a VICTORY network service with availability to all on-board VICTORY compliant networked devices. The Digital Beachhead also integrates a 16-port Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) Network Switch.
The MPE-S from Rockwell Collins is based on a new Rockwell Collins Selective Availability/Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM). It has all GPS classified data and signal processing placed into one tamper-proof module.
For Digital Beachhead applications not requiring SAASM technology, Curtiss-Wright engineers will also provide the Rockwell Collins Polaris Link GPS Receiver as an alternative to the GB-GRAM.
