Harris reorganizes following Exelis acquisition

MELBOURNE, Fla. Harris Corp officials today announced it is reorganizing its business segments to enable the integration of Exelis, which it acquired earlier this year.
"We combined Harris' and Exelis' top talent and technology to create four market-focused segments aligned with Harris' strategic growth platforms," says William M. Brown, Harris chairman, president and chief executive officer.
Effective the beginning of fiscal 2016, July 4, Harris is now structured in four business segments:
Communication Systems: Led by Chris Young, this segment will focus on tactical and airborne radios, night vision technology, and defense and public safety networks.
Critical Networks: This segment, which will be run by Carl D'Alessandro, will enable managed services supporting air traffic management, energy, and maritime communications, and ground network operation and sustainment, as well as high-value information technology (IT) and engineering services.
Electronic Systems: Led by Ed Zoiss, this area provide electronic warfare, avionics, wireless technology, C4I, undersea systems, and aerostructures solutions.
Space and Intelligence Systems: Bill Gattle will run this group, which will offer earth observation, weather, geospatial, space protection, and intelligence solutions from advanced sensors and payloads, as well as ground processing and information analytics.
Sheldon Fox is now Senior Vice President, Integration and Engineering for the company. Fox, who led the acquisition integration process, was formerly President of Harris' Government Communications Systems segment. Dana Mehnert, formerly President of Harris' RF Communications segment, is now Senior Vice President, Chief Global Business Development Officer and will be responsible for driving topline growth, leveraging complementary channels, and capturing large multi-year opportunities. Each of them will report to Brown.
