NASA selects VadaTech's MicroTCA system for Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS) project
NewsMay 06, 2014
HENDERSON, NV. VadaTech’s MicroTCA (μTCA) system has been selected for the NASA Space Network Ground Segment Sustainment (SGSS) project. NASA is upgrading its ground terminals, which are used in conjunction with multiple satellites supporting over 20 spacecraft, including the Hubble Space Telescope, Terra, and the International Space Station.
VadaTech’s μTCA system includes a 5U 12-slot chassis, a dual 10 GbE FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) interface module, and the MicroTCA Carrier Hub (MCH). The SGSS project plans to use μTCA components for the majority of the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) element, which includes the Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converters, beamformers, modems, and processors. The μTCA upgraded ground terminals will provide more functionality in only one and a half equipment racks, in comparison to the 24 racks currently needed in the system.
