MIDS-On-Ship communications provides interoperability with Link 16 systems

WAYNE, N.J. U.S. Navy officials at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command selected Data Link Solutions (DLS) to deliver Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS)-On-Ship (MOS) system under a $32 million, firm fixed price contract that provides secure, high-capacity, and jam-resistant digital Link 16 data and voice communications capabilities.

Under contract, DLS is set to deliver up to 12 MOS Lot Four production units for shipboard applications, each system will equipp command-and-control platforms with targeting and Blue Force Tracking. Link 16 users can exchange digital data over a common communication link that is updated continuously in real time and they are able to see the battle space electronically using MOS.

Work under this contract is expected to be completed by December 2017 for the U.S. Navy and other international naval forces, officials say. Work will be performed in Wayne, New Jersey and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
