Memory module for harsh environments shown by SMART Modular Technologies at Sea-Air-Space show

SEA-AIR-SPACE 2019--NATIONAL HARBOR, MARYLAND. Smart Modular Technologies launched at the Navy League?s Sea-Air-Space 2019 (SAS) exhibition a new entrant to its SMART RUGGED product offering, a 32 GB industrial-grade SO-DIMM that is aimed at ruggedized computing applications used in the defense, industrial, transportation, public safety, and similar arenas.

The SMART RUGGED 32 GB SO-DIMM undergoes a rigorous industrial grade test process which includes a cold boot at -40 °C, ramping up to +85 °C ambient operation while at a high utilization rate; the high-utilization test software ensures that all cells in the DRAM components are fully stressed through the entire temperature cycle. As the data is being collected over a 10-hour test cycle, the weak modules can be removed, which additionally ensures reliability in the field.

The company also uses underfill and conformal coating, thereby enabling protection from shock, vibration, humidity, moisture, and harsh chemicals in the air. The new memory modules are offered in ECC and non-ECC configurations.

SAS attendees may view the new product at the Smart Modular Technologies booth, in the main exhibit hall at Booth 1051.
